Summary

Data is a burden.

You don't want us to store any more than we need to, and we don't want to track our users - you pay us money, we have no need to sell this information to third parties.

We do sometimes need to share information with third parties to enable certain functionalities. For example, we use LemonSqueezy to process payments, and they'll need to store some information about you to enable that service.

Wherever possible, we aim to find the most privacy-friendly third parties to work with. Usually this means finding a service that is based within the European Union, but sometimes this isn't always possible. We're always open to suggestions for other services that might be better.

We're always happy to engage in constructive conversions with our users regarding the service, feel free to reach out at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

What information do we collect?

We collect the information you submit at the time of signing up (as part of the registration form), as well as any information you submit as part of your use of the site (i.e. if you submit a form, we store which user submitted this).

Information is also collected when you interact with certain elements on the site, for example when you submit content we may store the IP address of the computer it was sent from for the purposes of account security and monitoring.

If we need additional (sometimes sensitive, private) information from you, we will outline the reasons why we have to collect it. We're obliged to ask for no more information than is necessary, so in most cases, the information you enter into any web form on this site is all that is required.

Cookies are also used on this site for your convenience and to ensure the site functions as expected - cookies are not used to send tracking information to third parties, except when used during payments, or interacting with external services directly.

It is the responsibility of each user to ensure the secrecy of their login and password. This may be impacted by reusing passwords on different services online, and as such we strongly advise you use a unique, secure password on each site.

How will we use this information?

Each of the features of PlatePose requires information to be passed through our system, and will sometimes hold all of the information with which you have provided us, as well as your IP address and any time/date data.

We will never sell or share any of your personal details with a third party, unless you've given us the express permission to do so, or when we're required to do so by relevant law enforcement authorities (and only then will it be information deemed completely necessary for a current investigation).

The only additional context to the above is that we utilise third party services for handling your billing, payment, and service information.

Current third party services:
DigitalOcean - our server and cloud computing operator.
LemonSqueezy - for handling billing and payment information, as well as providing a secure checkout experience.
OpenAI - for providing AI services, including the ability to generate content and provide insights.
Astria - for training the AI model for profile images.
MailPace - for handling our transactional emails.

Occasionally we will have to email users with important information regarding the service, as well as using a users email address for the purposes of account verification and password resetting and you agree to this if you sign up and/or use the service.

How long will we keep this information?

We're obliged to only keep data for as long as necessary, so we shall keep your information only as long as you're a member, plus some additional time to store customer information as deemed legally required.

Can you see the information we have on you?

Under the Data Protection Act, you're entitled to see the information that we hold on you. To request this information or to request we make changes to our records if you think we hold out-of-date information on you, please email [email protected]

We may ask you to verify your identity before we reveal the information, and under current rules, we may take up to 20 working days to respond. There may be a fee for this service in the future.

Transfer or Closure

In the event we sell the site to another operator, or close the site entirely - we'll use your information to contact you prior, and then: in the event of a sale, we'll pass your information to the new operator, and in the event of closure, we'll delete your information from our systems.
